Honest conversations about losing yourself, taking responsibility and building a life you want to live.

I’m Nathan Ellingham, a life coach, business owner and father of two. My story brings together ambition, divorce, identity and the personal changes that helped me find a different direction.

I’m open to sharing the uncomfortable parts as well as the progress: the priorities I got wrong, the patterns I had to face and what rebuilding has meant in everyday life.

If those conversations would resonate with your listeners, I’d love to hear from you.

The story behind the conversation

For years, I put a huge amount of energy into building businesses and chasing success. Being productive, providing and achieving became closely tied to how I saw myself.

When my marriage ended, I faced the loss of the future I thought I was building. I also had to ask who I was outside my relationship, my business and the roles I’d built my identity around.

There were things I had to own, including how much attention I’d given to business at the expense of my relationship. There were habits I had to question, including using drinking as an escape. And there were decisions to make about how I wanted to show up for my children and myself.

Rebuilding involved asking for support, changing my priorities and learning to follow through on the things that mattered to me.

Those experiences are the starting point for conversations about identity, relationships, ambition, fatherhood and purpose.

Conversations we could have

01

When the relationship ends, who are you?

Losing yourself in a relationship can happen gradually. When it ends, even simple questions about what you enjoy or what you want can feel difficult to answer.

I’m happy to talk about the loss of identity after separation, rebuilding self-trust and learning to make choices based on your own values. We can also explore recognising relationship patterns and what you want to do differently in the future.

02

The future you thought you were building

When my relationship ended, I was grieving the whole future I’d imagined: family life, shared plans and the way I thought my children would grow up.

This conversation explores that less visible side of separation, the pressure to “move on” and how you begin making room for a future you hadn’t planned. It’s also about accepting that people move through change differently, without a fixed deadline for feeling better.

03

Successful on paper, lost in yourself

What happens when achievement becomes the main way you measure your worth?

Drawing on my experience of building businesses, I’m open to discussing ambition, external validation and the cost of putting success ahead of other parts of life. We can explore how my definition of success has changed and what it means to build a life with room for relationships, health, fatherhood and peace.

04

Owning your side of the story

One of the hardest parts of rebuilding was looking honestly at my own choices.

This conversation is about accountability without taking responsibility for everything that happened. We can discuss recognising patterns, setting boundaries and learning to focus on your own actions when you can’t control someone else’s decisions.

I’m willing to talk about what I got wrong and what I’ve had to change.

05

Becoming the father you want your children to remember

Fatherhood has been central to the way I’ve rebuilt my life.

I’m happy to discuss parenting after separation, managing your own reactions and learning to be more emotionally present. We can explore listening to children, making space for their feelings and creating connection through ordinary moments, alongside the reality of adjusting to life across two homes.

The focus is my experience as a dad and what I continue to learn.

06

Building a life you don’t need to escape from

There came a point when I had to question whether the ways I was coping were helping me move forward.

I’m open to talking about my relationship with alcohol, taking a year away from drinking, changing habits and finding support through coaching and personal reflection. We can explore the role of routines, friendships and purpose in creating a life that feels better to be present in.

What I bring to the conversation

I’m comfortable talking about the parts of my story that are still uncomfortable.

That includes where I lost myself, the mistakes I made and the difference between understanding something and actually changing how you live.

My perspective comes from lived experience, fatherhood, business and my work as a coach. I’m happy to be challenged, explore difficult questions and talk honestly about what I’m still learning.

The topics above are starting points. If there’s a particular angle that fits your podcast and your listeners, let’s discuss it.
